Exploring the Religion of our Ancestors
Welcome!
Welcome to Ravens’ Hof! Named in honor of Odin’s two Ravens, Hugin (Thought) and Munin (Memory), Ravens’ Hof is a legally organized “church” per the Internal Revenue Code for religious organizations. We use the term hof in our tradition, in the Old Norse, a hof referring to a hall or temple.
As a religious tradition, we seek to preserve, perpetuate, and practice the spirituality of our ancient Germanic and Norse ancestors via what has taken the name of Ásatrú in modern times. Ásatrú aims to be a faithful reconstruction of the spirituality and religious practices of pre-Christian Europe—how our ancient, European ancestors related to the divine as well as to the world about them.
Further, via our Center for Norse Mythological Studies, our goal is to provide an extensive educational and training curriculum in Germanic and Norse mythological studies with options to take individual courses, pursue a certificate in an area of concentration, or even a religious studies degree (from associate to graduate level).
Finally, as a legally organized and duly authorized faith entity, we seek to equip and prepare men and women worldwide for work in the ministry as Ásatrú clergy. Our ordained goðar are legally authorized to officiate weddings, conduct funerals, provide spiritual counseling, establish a kindred, etc.
*Though the IRS classifies all “churches” as nonprofits, Ravens’ Hof is currently pursuing both formal incorporation and 501(c)3 status.
